Q: Will I need anything else other than the AA batteries to operate this system?

A: You will need 16x AA batteries nothing else

Q: What's the support for this system once I receive it? is there a warranty, do I get a phone

A: number in the event I have any issues?

Yes support is provided and there is a one year warranty

Q: can this system be upgraded to a dual lane down the road and if yes what would be the cost?

A: You can upgrade to two lanes by adding sensors, cost $540 for 3 sets of sensors, start, speed, finish

Q: Can I add a laptop to this system or do I need any additional items/software?

A: I recommend getting the Full blown drag system. The sensors and cable are compatible with the DP500 drag system or just the sensors on the DP900 Wireless system.
